Ready to try an ebook?

We wish you could visit us in person to check out books, but in the meantime you can get lots and lots of ebooks for free with your library card! For those of you who haven't used ebooks before and have decided that now is the time to try, here is some information on our two largest ebook collections!

Wisconsin's Digital Library
Available through OverDrive or Libby
Overdrive and Libby are home to the same collection, one that we share with the whole state of Wisconsin. They are two different platforms owned by the same company, so you can choose one or both to use. You'll find an app for both OverDrive and Libby free to download in the app store of whatever device you use. Or you can access them from your computer using the links above. You'll need to set up an account and login with your library card number and pin.

  • Lots of ebooks, audiobooks, and movies available.
  • Most items work the same way they do in the physical library - if someone has the item checked out you can place it on hold.
  • Lucky Day collection for popular items that you can check out instantly with no holds.

Hoopla
Available at Hoopla Digital
Hoopla is home to a collection of digital titles that we share with the rest of the Arrowhead Library system. You can download a free Hoopla app on your device to get started. You'll need to make an account with your library card number and pin.
  • Many ebooks, audiobooks, movies, tv shows, and music available.
  • Each library user is allowed 6 downloads a month. Users are allowed to download content simultaneously, so there are no holds!
  • Our library does have a daily maximum of downloads, so sometimes you will get a message asking you to come back the next day to download an item if our Eager Free users have already used all of the daily allowance.
  • Bonus borrows collection for items that don't count against your monthly allowance or our library's daily limits.
If you have questions about getting started with our digital collections or need help accessing your account, please send us an email at eagerfree@als.lib.wi.us or a message on our Facebook page.

Tuesdays at 11am (April 7 and 14)
Join BASE, Evansville PD and Eager Free Public Library for a virtual story time, as we all work to keep #EvansvilleTogether even during social distancing! An officer from the Evansville Police Department will read uplifting stories about bravery, kindness, resiliency and some just plain fun, all picked by EFPL librarians! Story time will go live from the BASE Facebook Page at 11:00 am.
