EFPL is Fine Free!
As you may have already heard, Eager Free Public Library is officially fine free! Fines on our materials had been suspended throughout the pandemic and at their June meeting, the Library Board decided to make this permanent. This a fast growing trend in the modern library world and we are glad to be a part of it! If you have any questions regarding this change, please feel free to ask us.
While this is exciting news, there are a few things you should know:
- This applies to Eager Free Public Library owned materials. Not all libraries in our system are fine free. Items received from other SHARE member libraries or through Interlibrary Loan may trigger an overdue fine. (Maximum overdue charge per item is $5.00)
- Patrons are still responsible for any fees billed to their account due to damaged or lost library materials.

Author Spotlight: Matt Haig
Matt Haig has written all kind of books for children and young adults, as well as fiction and nonfiction for adults. Below you will find some of his other books geared towards adults.

TITANIC READS
This month our Antemeridians Book Club will be reading The Dressmaker by Kate Alcott. An aspiring young seamstress, Tess, thinks she has found her lucky break when she is hired by the famous designer Lucile Duff Gordon to serve as her personal maid on the Titanic. Tess is fortunate enough to board a lifeboat and make it to the U.S. unharmed. Once back on land, rumors begin to circulate about Lucile Duff Gordon's actions upon leaving the Titanic, and Tess finds herself caught in the middle of the media and the hearings covering the Titanic's voyage.

The Midnight Watch by David Dyer - As the Titanic slowly sank after striking an iceberg, a nearby ship looked on, the SS Californian. A crew member on board the ship saw the distress rockets fired by the Titanic and alerted the captain; however, the captain never responded to the alert. The next morning, the Titanic was gone and the crew aboard the SS Californian did all they could to hide their role in the disaster, but their secret is eventually revealed. This novel focuses on what may have occurred on board the SS Californian as well as the aftermath of the Titanic's sinking.
Shadow of the Titanic: A Survivor's Story by Ronald C. Denney - This work recounts Eva Hart's journey on the Titanic along with the difficulties encountered after surviving the disaster. Eva was a young child when she boarded the Titanic on her way to settle in Canada.
The It Girls by Karen Harper - This novel follows the lives of two sisters, Lucy & Elinor. Lucy marries Sir Cosmo Duff-Gordon and becomes a famous fashion designer; they board the Titanic and are involved in a scandal following its sinking. Elinor writes novels that push the boundaries on what is acceptable while also entering the world of Hollywood.
Gilded Lives, Fatal Voyage by Hugh Brewster - This book uses original research to intertwine the lives of the rich and famous within the overall story of the Titanic's sinking.
Into the Deep by Robert D. Ballard - This is a biography of Robert Ballard, the man who found the Titanic.
