THE PRAIRIE THIEF

The Prairie Thief by Melissa Wiley is a great story based on folklore.  In this book, Louisa Brody's father is accused of stealing and locked up in jail.  She is forced to live with the Smirches, the neighbors who accused her father of the crime.  Then, she discovers a magical secret.  It is up to Louisa, her friend Jessamine, and her secret to save her father from a guilty verdict.
