ESPIONAGE

Espionage is used as the important plot point in a genre of literature known as spy fiction.  As a genre, it is often compared to adventure novels and political and/or military thrillers.  Whether you are interested in spies, assassins, or ex-agents, you can find them in many novels that take place around the world and span many time periods.  Here you will find a list that is perfect for fans of espionage.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT: KATE MORTON

Looking for a new author to keep you busy?  This week's post is all about Kate Morton.  Born in Australia, Kate attended Trinity College in London where she originally pursued a career in theatrer before landing on a career in writing.  Morton's novels have been bestsellers worldwide and have been published in over 30 languages.  For more information on Kate Morton, visit https://www.katemorton.com/.

The Clockmaker's Daughter

The Forgotten Garden
A young child is abandoned a ship headed for Australia in 1913.  When she arrives, she is alone with nothing but a suitcase.  She is taken in by the dockmaster's family and raised as their own.  Then, on her 21st birthday, she learns the truth and her life is shattered.  The story follows Nell as she tries to piece her story together and find her real identity.  Upon her death, it is up to her granddaughter to solve the mystery.

The House at Riverton
Set in England between the two world wars, this story centers on a death that occurred at a party in the Hartford family's home.  Told as a flashback, this is the story of a young woman's growing up during a pivotal moment in time.

PLACING HOLDS ONLINE

If you haven't heard, we are now offering curbside pick up!  If you are interested in placing holds on items from home, you can follow the steps below.

Start by visiting our website at als.lib.wi.us/EFPL, and click on "My Account" on the right side of the screen.  You will be prompted to enter your library card number and PIN.  Once you are logged in, you can start searching for items.

                                                                                                                                   


If you have a specific item you are looking for, then you can type the title into the search bar.  You can also search by author or subject.  If you aren't sure what you are looking for, you can hover over the different categories that are under the search bar (Non-Fiction, Movies & TV, etc.).  Then, click on the subcategory that interests you.  After the list of results is populated, you can narrow down your search using the filters on the left side of the screen.  You can also change how the items are sorted.




Once you find an item that you would like to check out, click "Place Hold."  From there, you can search for more items, or you can log out.  Once your items have been pulled from the self, a staff member will call you to set up a pick up date and time.



When you are logged into your account, you can see a list of your current checkouts, current holds, and register for the favorite author club.  The favorite author club will automatically place holds on new titles that are released by the authors you select.

CURBSIDE PICK UP



Curbside pick-up starts today!  At this time, we are not receiving delivery from other libraries.  All hold requests will only be taken for items found at the Eager Free Public Library.

Follow the steps below to reserve and pick up your items.

1.  Call the library at 608-882-2260 or email us at eagerfree@als.lib.wi.us to reserve your item(s).  You may also place a hold online through your SHARE account.  The library will call you to schedule a pick-up time when your items are ready.

2.  Available pick-up times: Monday-Friday 10:00-1:00 and 3:00-6:00.

3.  At the time of pick-up, park at our First Street entrance and call 608-882-2260 to alert the library of your arrival.  You will be asked for your library card number or you can give us your name, address, and date of birth.  You will also be asked for your car make and color.

4.  Once you arrive at the library, open your trunk, and remain in your car, while staff are outside of the building.  After staff have returned to the building, you may get of your car to close the trunk.

5.  Library staff will bring your items to your car and place the items in your trunk.

Staff will not accept returns or additional requests at our curbside pick-up.  Due dates will be extended, so you do not need to worry about late fees.
