Since 1987, the Discovery Channel has celebrated the end of summer with Shark Week,
a weeklong programming extravaganza chock-full of oceanic beasts that are
usually monstrously hungry for human blood. In honor of Shark Week 2013, we
bring you a roundup of shark-infested movies that are available here at the
library – plus some other titles that are less bloody but still nautically
inclined. Call us to pull one of these titles on hold today!
And other ocean-related materials for your listening,
viewing, and reading pleasure:
- 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (DVD)
- Ocean Dreams-Relaxation and Meditation with Music and Nature (CD)
- Moby-Duck: the true story of 28,000 bath toys lost at sea, and of the beachcombers, oceanographers, environmentalists, and fools – including the author – that went in search of them by Donovan Hohn
- Simple Courage: A true story of peril on the sea by Frank Delaney
- In the Heart of the Sea: the story of the whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick
